Fran Reina underwater photographer

Hi! I’m Fran.

I am an underwater portrait photographer. But, just like all of us, I am also a lot of other things.

I have been working in and around the water for well over a decade as an underwater photographer, SCUBA diving instructor, and certified yoga teacher.

When I landed in Mexico, in 2016, I fell in love immediately with the cenotes and the amazing photo opportunities offered by their crystal clear water and beautiful natural backgrounds.

I knew they were going to become the place where I could unleash my creativity.

I look forward to sharing with you the amazing weightless feeling of being underwater and capturing this moment for you to remember for a lifetime.

The cenotes are my playground

The cenotes are a natural opening to the underground cave system of the Eastern part of Mexico.

The cenotes of the Riviera Maya (the area from Cancun to Tulum) stand out like beautiful crystal clear ponds nestled in an incredible green and lush jungle.

Mesmerizing blue columns of light and incredible water clarity, in conjunction with the relatively warm water temperature, make these cenotes the perfect natural setting for an underwater photoshoot.

As soon as you take your first step into a cenote you will understand how truly blessed we are to be able to create magic in such an astounding studio.

The core of what I do.

Using the water as a medium I aspire to change people's perspectives about their bodies, and ultimately about themselves. Through my underwater portraits, I seek to enhance your unique traits, utilizing the weightlessness that we experience when we are immersed in water.

The healing power of water turns the underwater photoshoot into an incredibly uplifting experience. The water offers us a strengthening resistance and a soothing sensation while we move through it. Being simultaneously invigorating and relaxing is a unique quality of water that turns the photoshoot into a beautiful experience that you will remember for years to come.
