Why a Couples Underwater Photoshoot Is a Beautiful Way to Capture Your Love
Couples photoshoots are a wonderful way to celebrate your relationship, whether you’re marking an anniversary, capturing your engagement, or looking for a magical way to do your Trash the Dress session after your wedding. These photos become memories you’ll treasure forever.
But what if your photoshoot could be more than just posing together? What if it could be an experience, something adventurous, meaningful, and completely unforgettable?
That’s exactly what an underwater couples photoshoot offers.
If you’ve never heard of underwater photography before, it might sound like something only seen in movies or magazines. But the truth is, my underwater photoshoots are much easier and more accessible than you think; yes, even if you don’t know how to swim or if you’re a little afraid of the water.
Why Couples Love Underwater Photoshoots in Cenotes
During the session, you and your partner will:
Explore a crystal-clear cenote together, surrounded by incredible rock formations, mangrove roots, and sunlight rays filtering through the water.
Share a fun, adventurous experience that naturally brings out genuine connection and emotion.
Create unique, artistic portraits unlike anything you’ve ever done before, images that look magical, intimate, and full of movement.
When I say my sessions are an experience, I truly mean it. This isn’t just a photoshoot; it’s a moment you live together. And while you’re floating side by side, discovering the underwater world, your most unforgettable portraits will be taking shape.
Special Occasions Feel Even More Magical Underwater
Trash the Dress… but Make It Underwater
An underwater Trash the Dress photoshoot is one of the most extraordinary ways to celebrate your wedding memories. Why wear your wedding dress only once when you can give it a second, unforgettable life beneath the surface of a crystal-clear cenote?
And here’s the best part:
Your dress doesn’t get trashed at all; it gets naturally “washed” by the fresh cenote water and moves beautifully underwater.
It doesn’t matter if you were married last month or years ago. You can pull that special dress out of your closet and relive one of the most meaningful days of your life.

Thinking of Proposing Underwater? Here’s What Works Best
While the idea of an underwater proposal sounds magical, but as a photographer, I advise not doing the exact proposal moment underwater. While the setting is stunning, the reality can be less magical.
Here’s why popping the question underwater might not be the best idea:
You Can't See Each Other: For the most natural and beautiful photos, we shoot without masks. This means they won't clearly see the ring box, your nervous smile, or the love in your eyes. That crucial moment of eye contact is lost.
The Pressure Is On (And Not Just Water Pressure): Instead of being lost in the emotion, you might find yourself focused on holding your breath, getting the pose right, and timing everything perfectly. This pressure can strip away the spontaneous magic of the proposal.
Doing Both Things Can Be Harder Than It Looks: Underwater posing is fun and easy to get the hang of, but like any new skill, it takes a bit of concentration. Combining that new skill with the pressure of the proposal itself is a lot to juggle at once. We want you to be present for the emotion of the moment, not distracted by the mechanics of holding a pose.

Just Because

What to Expect During a Couples Underwater Photoshoot
Most couples are amazed by how easy and fun this experience feels.
Here’s what the process looks like:
Pre-session guidance: You’ll both get simple breathing, movement, and posing tips (nothing complicated!).
A relaxing dynamic: You’ll only be underwater for a few seconds at a time.
Full safety support: A safety assistant is always nearby, guiding you and making sure you feel comfortable.
A playful and immersive experience: It’s relaxed, intimate, and a beautiful way to connect with each other in a completely new environment.
And if you want to elevate your experience even more, you can add a jungle photoshoot to your session. The lush greenery, mangrove roots, and soft natural light create a dreamy backdrop that perfectly complements your underwater portraits.
